Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 is 50 percent faster, 77 percent bigger.
Qualcomm announced its latest fingerprint reader sensor. Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 has the ability to scan fingerprints even if there is dirt. For example, the sensor can work even when the user’s hand is wet. In order to obtain an accurate image, the ridges, pits and pores on your finger are scanned with ultrasonic waves.
The new generation sensor has a larger surface area and is much faster. If you remember, speed was the subject of complaints in the first generation. Taking these into consideration, Qualcomm states that the second generation is 50 percent faster. The size of 8 x 8 millimeters to 77 percent larger. This larger surface area allows the sensor to read 1.7 times more biometric data. It should also be noted that the sensor is thinner by 0.2 millimeters.
Qualcomm shared that 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2 could arrive in early 2021. This reminds us that we can see the second generation sensor in the Galaxy S21. Let’s note that the first generation used in Galaxy S10 , Galaxy Note 10 , Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 models.
