China on Friday launched the experimental satellite with 6G technology on board. The Long March 6 rocket was launched into orbit from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern China’s Shanxi province. China launched the 6G part along with 12 other satellites.
The “UESTC”, also known as Star Era-12, got its name from the China University of Electronic Science and Technology. The experimental 6G satellite “will verify terahertz (THz) communication technology in space, a breakthrough in space communication,” according to the state-affiliated Global Times newspaper.
6G technology is expected to be commercially available starting in 2030.
As data, 6G technology offers 100 times the speed of 5G and 5G is up to 10 times the speed of 4G. 6G is a true next-generation leap.
