AMD Announces Four New FidelityFX Graphics Technologies Optimized For Its RDNA GPUs

AMD revealed the addition of four new graphics technologies through its open source GPUOpen that has been implemented in FidelityFX , which have been optimized for graphics cards with RDNA architecture. We are talking about COCOA, SSSR, LPM and SPD .

  • FidelityFX Screen Space Reflections: The Stochastic Screen Space Reflections (SSSR) implementation offers high-quality reflections with minimal overhead through an optimized computational shader and RDNA architecture optimized for noise removal.
  • FidelityFX Ambient Occlusion: The Combined Adaptive Compute Ambient Occlusion / CACAO optimized by the RDNA architecture helps improve the appearance of objects based on their exposure to ambient light.
  • FidelityFX HDR Mapper: Optimized for use with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro displays, the Luminance Preserving Mapper (LPM) offers superior HDR and a wide color gamut for gaming.
  • FidelityFX Downsampler: Optimized for RDNA architecture, AMD’s shader-based single pass Downsampler (SPD) generates up to 12 levels of texture MIP using asynchronous calculations for optimal performance.
