At the latest shareholders’ meeting, Apple CEO Tim Cook offered his insight into the company’s progress during 2020.
“Apple makes the best, most useful, most innovative and most reliable products out there, and [in 2020], we are taking that mission to another level ,” Cook said at the meeting. He added that the AirPods Max have been “hugely popular” with consumers, calling the HomePod mini a “hit.”
Although he did not offer details on upcoming Apple products, he did say there are “exciting things” in the future for the iPhone and “great things” for its line of computers.
Cook also responded to questions from shareholders. The executive reiterated Apple’s position that it does not have a dominant position in any market in which it competes, in relation to a question about the App Store.
“Although the scrutiny is fair, these kinds of accusations are dismantled after a reasonable examination of the facts ,” Cook said, referring to the antitrust accusations that have been made against the company.
Apple’s CEO also shared a tip on how the world has changed during the global coronavirus pandemic, and how Apple hasn’t.
In many ways, the world has changed, but fundamentally Apple has not.
Apple is made up of people who want to dedicate their lives to doing things that enrich the lives of others, making it fuller, more creative and more human.
We feel comfortable saying no to many things, and we focus on the areas where we can have the greatest impact, innovating relentlessly. Technology made by people, for people and with people’s well-being in mind.
At its best and with most hope, technology should help us leave the world better than we found it.
Looking forward to 2021 and beyond, Cook said he is “enormously optimistic about the future.”
For all of us at Apple, we are always thinking deeply about how we can help our communities come out of this stronger, how recovering from this can be fair and just, and how all of that can be helped by the world-class technology that puts to humanity in your heart.
