A well-known Chinese leak source has suggested that Xiaomi could launch a smartphone with MediaTek’s Dimensional 1000+ chip.
The news comes shortly after Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand introduced the first Dimensional 820 chip smartphone, the Redmi 10X 5G.
According to Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi is working on a smartphone with an LCD screen with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. This phone will also have the Dimensional 1000+ 5G processor.
We had already heard rumors that this could happen and when Xiaomi China President and Redmi CEO took the stage at the launch of MediaTek, still more was confirmed.
Although Xiaomi tries to incorporate the latest processors in its smartphones from the first moment, it does not do the same with the screens. The Mi 10 series is one of the few Xiaomi devices that has this feature, although Redmi has previously used a 120Hz display with the Redmi K30 before.
This means that the device with a 144Hz screen could be a Xiaomi gaming smartphone. And also the Dimensional 1000+ fits well into the profile of a gaming phone.
MediaTek is experiencing a sweet moment with its Dimensity series, which has increased in popularity among Chinese manufacturers. Furthermore, tensions between China and the US have helped manufacturers such as Huawei and Honor look at them to avoid the commercial veto.
Interestingly, iQoo has just announced the iQoo Z1 which has the exact same processor and display with the same refresh rate as Xiaomi’s mysterious phone.
