A new list of the companies that sold the most chips in 2020 marks that Intel continues to lead the sector, but that other companies such as NVIDIA, TSMC and even AMD are approaching it at an accelerated rate.
If we only look at the numbers, we see that Intel still leads the list in earnings per chips sold, but IC Insights produced a very interesting report that shows us the massive growth that other companies in the competition are having.
In the first place, it is mentioned that Intel generated $ 73.9 billion in sales in all of 2020, which represents a growth of 4% compared to last year. For its part, Samsung ranks second with an estimated turnover of around $ 60.5 billion, representing an increase of 9%. In addition, the giant TSMC makes its appearance completing the podium, with $ 45.4 billion, which marks an increase of 31% over the previous year.
If we look a little further down, we see that NVIDIA is growing very fast , with profits of $ 15.9 billion in sales, which is an incredible 50% increase from last year.
AMD also makes its appearance at the bottom of the table, with profits of $ 9.5 billion in chip sales, which is 41% more from last year.
The total chip market is estimated to grow 13% this year to $ 355.4 billion, double what was initially expected. Last year, the chip turnover of the suppliers of the top 15 companies was reduced by 15% compared to the previous year.
