ASUS announced the new high-density server RS620SA-E10-RS12. These new server web hosting services were developed for usage scenarios such as content delivery networks (CDN), enterprise virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) applications, high performance computing (HPC) and data analysis.

RS620SA-E10-RS12 is the first 2U6N high-density server to focus on high-level computing density in 2U format. This server, which perfectly combines high compute density and tidy cable design, meets the needs of standard data center environments without any modifications. The new server also offers high-level features in terms of environmental awareness. The model has the  world’s highest SPEC Power score in the energy efficiency category among high density servers with AMD ® EPYC ™ 7002 processors.

The RS620SA-E10-RS12 features six nodes in a 2U chassis, each with an AMD EPYC 7002 processor. With TDP up to 280 W [2] and up to 64 cores per node, this server offers PCI Express ®  (PCIe ® ) .0 bandwidth with one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and one OCP 3.0 per node . 3] PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, NVIDIA ® It supports low profile GPUs such as T4, enabling acceleration of various AI extraction workloads. The RS620SA-E10-RS12 also provides exceptional flexibility, with 12 storage slots offering hot swapping. NVMe SSD storage is available in all of these 12 slots, which can be used with six SATA / SAS hard drives and six NVMe ™ SSDs. Thanks to its high core count and transfer rates, the RS620SA-E10-R12 offers a high level of flexibility throughout the system.

Providing full PCIe 4.0 support in storage and network interface controllers (NIC), RS620SA-E10-RS12 meets the high-speed transfer needs of high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and data processing applications. With the maturation of software-defined storage (SDS) and software-defined network (SDN) solutions, organizations are more likely to leverage hyper-converged infrastructures (HCI) for their operations. Thanks to these infrastructures, companies do not need to purchase separate devices for storage, network switches and computing. Thanks to the resources combined at a single point, organizations can benefit from IT infrastructures more efficiently.

With the introduction of the PCIe 4.0 standard, HCI solutions, which have become much more efficient by achieving lower latency and high bandwidth, greatly reduce data communication and transfer restrictions. RS620SA-E10-RS12 meets HCI demands in a variety of ways. Supporting PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs, the product doubles the performance compared to the previous generation PCIe 3.0 devices. The ability to consolidate resources at a single point and then distribute them makes PCIe 4.0 devices a trend in cloud applications and enterprise applications. Thanks to PCIe 4.0 NVMe and NIC, users feel no difference between NVMe used in place and NVMe-oF (NVMe over fabrics).

When it comes to total cost of ownership, the RS620SA-E10-RS12 offers the benefits of multi-core AMD EPYC 7002 processors. The more CPU cores, the better for virtualization applications on both the cloud and HCI. With a large number of cores and a high density design, the RS620SA-E10-RS12 is ideal for use in different scenarios and IT infrastructures. Supporting the fastest PCIe 4.0 devices, this driver is ready to overcome all challenges in the digital transformation process.

RS620SA-E10-RS12 is ranked top in the energy efficiency category in the respected SPEC Power tests conducted by Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC, www.spec.org). Tests conducted with the most widely used Windows Server and Linux operating systems and AMD EPYC 7742 processors in data centers represent the performance under real operating conditions. The results were obtained on Monday, October 12, 2020. Environmental protection and power consumption have become important issues in the server industry. ASUS introduced the server thermal control technology, Thermal Radar 2.0, in 2019. In addition to providing the opportunity to monitor the temperature in real time, this technology can also adjust the fan dynamically so that the fans consume less power. RS620SA-E10-RS12 also utilizes ASUS Power Balancer technology, which allows automatic adjustment of CPU cores load and frequency on ASUS servers according to real-time CPU load. This technology increases efficiency and cost performance optimization by reducing total power consumption.
