Apple M1 chipset was introduced, officially closing the Intel era in Mac computers.
Apple has officially announced the Apple M1 chipset that will power them before the Mac computers with its own processor. The ARM-based chipset, which will end the Intel-based Apple laptop and desktop computer era, manages to attract attention with its performance claim.
What are the Apple M1 Features?
Based on a unified memory architecture, the M1 chip has an eight-core processor, four of which are high-performance cores. The company calls these cores the fastest processor cores in the world. The other four cores serve as high-efficiency cores that continue to deliver high performance while using one-tenth of the power. Apple also says the M1 offers the best processor performance per watt.
The M1 has graphics integrated with an eight-core GPU. The company again claims that the M1 includes the world’s fastest integrated graphics. Chip further 11 billion operations per second that can be processed on the six core a neural engine contains.
The Apple M1, which is produced in 5 nm like the A14 chip, also offers Thunderbolt and USB 4 support. In addition, media encoding and decoding engines and a range of security features are offered. These include hardware-validated secure boot, encryption and runtime protections.
Apple emphasizes that Macs with new chipsets wake up instantly in sleep mode. It is also said to have good performance even when running 3D programs or RAW photos. The company has optimized all its applications for its new processors.
