ARM announced its new top-of-the-range processor, and this is none other than the ARM Cortex-A78, which promises a performance improvement of up to 20 percent compared to the current Cortex-A77 and all this reducing energy consumption by 50 percent, remembering that the Cortex-A77 is used in the main top-of-the-range SoCs on the market.
As if the upgrade wasn’t enough, the company also introduced its Cortex-X Custom program, where a Cortex-X1, which is a custom Cortex-A78, will offer a performance improvement of up to 30 percent over the Cortex-A77.
These cores will be accompanied by the new ARM Mali-G78 graphics, which maintain the Valhall graphics architecture. Despite this, it promises a performance improvement of 25 percent compared to the Mali-G77, being the most impressive of all that will allow the incorporation of a maximum of 24 graphic cores for great performance under any circumstances (gaming, machine rearling, augmented reality, etc). Although it is faster, it also consumes 10% less energy.
Finally, the set is completed with its new scalable Ethos-N77 NPU, which is capable of giving a starting performance of 1 TOP / s to 10 TOP / s, which implies doubling the performance reducing energy consumption by 25 %.
