Store sales figures are a good indicator of how a product performs in the market. In this case, we have sales figures from the German retailer Mindfactory.de, where you can see that AMD Ryzen processors are well-positioned, taking 13 of the top 20 CPU sales positions in the ranking of week 43 of the year. It is information shared by TechEpiphany and the data speaks for itself.
Looking at the details, we see that the star model is the Ryzen 5 3600, one of the cheapest. But the Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 9 3900X are in second and third place, which indicates that AMD is doing well in the more premium CPU range. Intel manages to put its Core i9 9900K in 14th place, but with 100 units sold compared to the 780 of the Ryzen 7 3700X with the same number of cores.
And this happens with the processors of the previous generation. When the new generation Ryzen 5000 series are released, the outlook is likely to be even more favorable for AMD. If AMD makes any downgrades to the Matisse Zen 2 family, the perfect storm may take place in the desktop segment.
