We have new evidence that the mighty Ryzen 9 5900X can run on an A320 motherboard. The motherboards with the A320 chipset are low-end and can be obtained for very cheap prices, which is an advantage when building an AMD Ryzen-based computer.
Ryzen 9 5900X is seen running on an ASRock A320 motherboard
One of the last manufacturers to confirm that their A320 motherboards could support the Ryzen 9 (3950X) series was Biostar, but until now we had no news on whether the Ryzen 9 5900X and 5950X could also work on them.
The ASRock A320M-HDV R4.0 motherboard is quite inexpensive. And it is offering about 6 power phases. These power stages are modest, but shouldn’t stop the processor from performing well. We know that the Ryzen 9 3950X can work on A320 motherboards, so we shouldn’t have a problem with a Ryzen 9 5900X. Being an A320 motherboard, the PCIe 4.0 would be absent.
The good news not end there, because of also no evidence that the processors Ryzen 5000 can run smoothly on the motherboards Gigabyte X370. This support would come via a new Beta firmware.
BIOS limitations in retaining a lot of information has been an issue within AMD 300 series motherboards , forcing the red mark to have to ditch support for some processors to make way for new ones. It’s good news that AMD 300 series motherboards continue to fight back and support the new generation of Ryzen 5000 chips. We’ll keep you posted.
