The CES 2021 has not started yet, but already some awards are known. 2020 is coming to an end and the Ryzen 5000 series has only taken a couple of months on the market to win the award in the Computer Hardware and Components category.
The Ryzen 5000 series for PC was launched with great success, although the stock is not very high at the moment. However, the performance improvements over the previous Ryzen 4000 series and against Intel’s options made it a fair winner.
The announcement was made by Lisa Su herself, who will be present at the event, as she was at CES 2020, where the Ryzen 4000 series for laptops was announced. He will be there again to announce what will be the Ryzen 5000 series, also for laptops. This will mark a new milestone in AMD’s race to conquer the laptop market that, so far, is elusive, but is slowly paying off. This will include the Ryzen 5000U and Ryzen 5000H processors, which use the Zen 3 cores.
Although they look the same, Ryzen 5000U and Ryzen 5000H have some differences from each other. The first is focused on low consumption and will be a combination of Zen 2 cores + Vega GPU, the ‘H’ variant if it marks a step forward by combining Zen 3 and Vega GPU cores.
Another important announcement that is expected is the RX 6000 series for notebooks, a category where AMD must improve if it wants to compete with Nvidia. We will keep you informed.
