The Radeon RX 6800 is the most modest graphics card AMD announced yet for the RX 6000 series. Apparently, the Navi 21 XL chip can achieve a fairly high clock rate of 2.5 GHz , according to a screenshot leaked by Twitter.
The capture was shared by the well-known user CapFrameX , where we see the RX 6800 achieving 2532 MHz clock speeds . Recall that this GPU has a reference clock speed of 2105 MHz, and here we see it oscillating between 2462 MHz and 2553 MHz. This is equivalent to a 20% increase in clock frequencies.
If we look in more detail, the RX 6800 is consuming an average power of 208W, with peaks of 269W , which would be within a logical range, since the default TDP is 250W. With this consumption, the registered heat is 60 degrees with a peak of 63 degrees Celsius. The GPU seems to be quite cool from what we see, although we will have to see how it behaves with longer sessions.
RX 6800 Specifications:
- GPU: Navi 21 XL
- Stream Processors (SP): 3840
- Node: 7nm TSMC
- Memory: 16GB GDDR6
- Bus: 256 bits
- Clock speeds (boost): 2105 MHz
The RX 6800 along with its bigger sister, the RX 6800XT, will go on sale on November 18 with prices of $ 579 and $ 649 , respectively. The expectation is that it can rival Nvidia’s RTX 3080. Meanwhile, the RX 6900 XT is due to arrive a few weeks later, on December 8, with a price tag of $ 999.
