The Last of Us franchise sets new record with over 500 GOTY awards

With this, the two games of the acclaimed Naughty Dog saga, have managed to receive the applause of the press and the public over the years.

In early 2013, The Last of Us was released for the then PlayStation 3 console by Naughty Dog, a prestigious studio that was already renowned for other sagas and franchises in the past. Just one year later, already in 2014 and with the new Sony console – PlayStation 4 – on the market, it was the turn of The Last of Us Remastered launch.

The prestige of the studio continued to grow and was already known by new generations of players who entered it, but without a doubt what would mark the company again would be this 2020. The Last of Us Part II  came to PS4 on June 19 last year and was done with the GOTY 2020; After this award, I saw memories of 2016 when he was an absolute winner with Uncharted 4, despite the fact that the GOTY of that year was won by Overwatch.

Despite everything,  The Last of Us Part 2 already had more than 200 awards for Best Game of the Year in 2020  and that number has only grown. With this, the second game in the saga is settled with 255 awards collected in Game Awards, and also the two games combined now add more than 500 awards for Best Game of the Year in its name. The first adds 254 and the second has 255 to his credit.

  • The Last of Us Part 2 (2020)

This is more than any other franchise in history and Naughty Dog has won more awards than any other with four of its games being clear winners in their respective years of release. They returned to fame in 2099 with Uncharted 2, the most awarded game of its year, to later reach The Last of Us in 2013 and Uncharted 4 in 2016, ending for now with The Last of Us Part 2 less than a year ago; another game that received the heat of the public.

At the moment, and with regard to the sagaSony is collaborating with HBO for the TV series about The Last of Us. Although Naughty Dog has not revealed anything about future plans – whether or not they are related to the franchise – we will be vigilant to see what they have in hand.
