The House of the Dead, one of Sega’s best-known arcades, will have a remake for Nintendo Switch (perhaps also Stadia, as we will see below), although at the moment it has only been announced for the Nintendo console. It has been one of the surprises of the Indie World, and although the existence of these remakes was already known since 2019, this is the first time that images have been seen.
The House of the Dead, the railing shooter from 1997, has been remade with new graphics and improved controls to bring them closer to modern standards. They promise to keep the gameplay of the original, with hordes of enemies and various endings.
It is developed by MegaPixel Studios, and edited by the Swedish Forever Entertainment.
The House of the Dead Remake is due out in 2021 . At the moment, only Nintendo Switch has been confirmed, and neither the game’s new official Twitter account nor the Forever Entertainment website mention other platforms. However, as we read on The House of the Dead fan wiki, Forever Entertainment also signed an agreement with Google Stadia.
MegaPixel is also the author (with Forever as editor) of the Panzer Dragoon remakes , other SEGA classics that also first came out on Switch and Stadia, and were later confirmed for PlayStation and Xbox . Therefore, we could expect something similar with The House of the Dead Remake.
