Sony, through a brief message on their social networks, has indicated that the highly anticipated event next Thursday, focused on video games that will arrive on the PlayStation 5 console, has been postponed, although the company did not reveal any other new date.
“While we understand that gamers around the world are excited about PlayStation 5 games, we don’t think it’s time to celebrate right now, and for now, we want to step back and allow more important voices to be heard.”
The reason for this may be behind the massive protests that are taking place in the United States following the death of an African American by the police. Other companies in the industry such as Xbox, Bethesda, or Riot Games, joined the same anti-racism protest named #BlackLivesMatter. So it will be necessary to wait for everything to return to normal before Sony considers offering a new date for the expected online event of its PlayStation 5.
