Akira Yamaoka is one of the most recognized and iconic composers in the video game industry. Part of this is thanks to his work on the Silent Hill series. If you enjoy his music, you should know that he is already preparing a new project and it seems this is something that some have been waiting for.
Yamaoka recently gave an interview to Al-Hub (via Gematsu ) in which he made interesting statements. In it, he pointed out that his next project will be announced when it is the summer of this year. He also noted that it is something he thinks his interviewer has been waiting for.
“I wonder when … I think I’ll be able to talk about it in the summer [of this year] or around that time (…) But I’m sure it’s [the project] you’ve been waiting for, Mutlaq [the interviewer]”, were the Yamaoka’s words.
Does this mean that we will see a new Silent Hill? We recommend that you do not get excited yet. The rumors about it are strong and Yamaoka’s statements seem to point to something. However, the reality is that he did not state anything explicitly.
So, at the moment the only thing you should take from this news is that Yamaoka is working on something new and that in months it will be revealed. Time will tell us if it is a new Silent Hill, another video game or something very far from this industry.
