This same week we learned that Destruction AllStars, one of the video games that was going to accompany PlayStation 5 at its launch, delayed its release date to February 2021, leaving Sony’s new machine with one less title. One of those that will be in stores accompanying PS5 is Sackboy: An adventure in a big way, which will also be released for PlayStation 4. Now we have learned more information about the game.
Thanks to an interview on GameInformer with Ned Waterhouse, design director of Sumo Digital, the studio in charge of the video game, we know that the title will cross-play between PS5 and PS4. This news is fantastic since users of both consoles will be able to play cooperatively if they wish, regardless of whether some people have decided to jump to the next-gen and others have not.
It seems that the cooperative aspect is important for the study, since in addition to allowing that cross-play and having the possibility of overcoming the story with other people, there are extra levels, outside the campaign, that are specifically designed to spend with friends. “We have created a set of dedicated cooperative levels, which take the mechanics that you have found in the main game and adapt them to a multiplayer context where you have to collaborate, communicate and work together with other players,” explained Waterhouse.
The game will be good in the current generation too: “[…] This game is great on both platforms. […] The team and I are proud of this experience on both PS4 and PS5. […] That said, the PS5 is obviously a more powerful console and has a broader feature set, “stated Waterhouse. The creative also indicated that on PS5 we can benefit from better graphics, faster loading speeds, or 3D audio.
In addition, the game will take advantage of the features of the DualSense, the PS5 controller, to give a more immersive experience. Waterhouse claims that almost anything Sackboy interacts with will provoke a reaction in command.
