In a recent interview, Brian Burke, from NVIDIA, confirmed that the ray tracing in Cyberpunk 2077 will also be compatible with AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 graphics cards, good news for those who were planning to buy an RX 6800 or RX 6900 XT.
It will be interesting to see how the NVIDIA RX 6000 and RTX 30 perform in Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing enabled, but the truth is that, for now, the second part has an advantage thanks to the support of DLSS 2.0 intelligent rescaling technology.
DLSS 2.0 intelligent rescaling has shown that it is capable of achieving an image with a quality equal to or even higher than what we would obtain with native resolution, as long as we adjust the balanced or quality mode, since in the performance mode the base pixel count is reduce too much and you begin to notice, in most cases, a blurry effect.
The performance improvement that DLSS 2.0 achieves is very large, we have already seen it in some games (Control, Death Stranding and Wolfenstein Youngblood among the most important), and it leaves AMD in a somewhat complicated position.
AMD has confirmed that it is working on its own alternative known as Super Resolution, but we do not know if it will be ready for the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, and if it will be able to work at the same level as NVIDIA’s DLSS 2.0.
Cyberpunk 2077 has recently been delayed by the problems that developers are having to optimize the game in its version for Xbox One and PS4. It won’t arrive until December 10.
