If you were thinking of buying the Rocket League, go save the wallet, and that is that the title will become ‘ free-to-play ‘ later this summer. To compensate those who have purchased the game before becoming free, a special ‘Legacy’ status will be offered in addition to having access to all DLCs released to date, a title that reveals the year you started playing, + 200 items to be upgraded to the best quality, and exclusive tires and wake trail will be offered.
This free launch will take place in the Epic Games Store, and it must be remembered that Epic Games acquired the game studio. Thanks to Cross-Play, Epic players can play against Steam without problems. This is important as once it is free the game will only be available for download from the Epic Games store. On Steam, it can only be downloaded by those who have purchased the game before it becomes free.

Starting later this summer, Rocket League will be free.
What does this mean for the Rocket League game you know and love? The main gameplay will remain the same, but we are refining the main menus to make exploring the game easier. Plus, we’re revamping and improving core features like tournaments and challenges, and introducing a cross-platform progression! Rocket League action on the field will remain the same core, a high octane hybrid of sport and action that you love today, and soon, even more, players will share that love. This begins with the launch of Rocket League on its latest platform – the Epic Games Store.
Rocket League will be released in the Epic Games Store for PC at the same time that it is released to play for free. This version of the game will be identical to the one found on other platforms and will include a cross-platform game anywhere you play Rocket League, including among Epic Games Store and Steam players.
Once Rocket League is released to play, anyone who already owns Rocket League on any platform (including Steam) will be able to play and enjoy the game with full support for future updates and features. However, the Steam version will no longer be available for download by new players. Simply put, wherever you play now (including Steam), you can keep playing in the future.
