Capcom leak has revealed Resident Evil 4 will launch on Oculus VR
The past week was very intense for Capcom, as a group of hackers broke through its security barriers and took a lot of confidential information about the company. Faced with the possibility of negotiating with these thieves, the developer decided not to do it and let them be. After all, there was no way these people could give them guarantees that they would honor an agreement. As a consequence, hackers have started to release the information they got on a little adventure. For example, they have revealed that Resident Evil 4 will be released on Oculus VR, an interesting case since no one had heard of this until now.
You can find the information in question in this ResetEra post . Among the other leaks, you will notice that one of the leaked games is “Resident Evil 4 for Oculus VR”. Nothing else is known about it, or how their gameplay would work or when they would think to launch it. Of course, that RE4 is available in virtual reality wouldn’t surprise anyone. This Resident Evil installment has been released on eleven different platforms, so adding another would be the least surprising thing in the world. However, it will be striking to see how this classic is executed.
The fact that Oculus VR is the resulting platform is also striking. When Resident Evil VII was released, Sony paid to make its VR version exclusive to Sony. Could it be that PlayStation has lost its interest in virtual reality? Or was Oculus willing to pay more money? 0
Resident Evil VII was a success in VR, so Capcom fans are excited to see how RE4 fits into this format. It is still a secret, but it will be exciting to see the announcement of this project.
