Mistwalker , the company Hironobu Sakaguchi founded after leaving Square Enix has delivered great games to us throughout its history. Unfortunately, it seems that many of them will stay on the consoles on which they originally debuted since their creator is not interested in these types of re-releases.
Sakaguchi recently spoke to VGC about Fantasian, his upcoming iOS RPG, as well as his past and future. As part of the conversation, the Final Fantasy creator made it clear that he has little interest in going back to his past projects to bring them back as remakes or remasters.
But why is he against this type of project? What happens is that it considers that they are developments that take a lot of time and resources. This is why he prefers to dedicate his time to new things.
“To be perfectly honest, there are no plans for any remakes at this time. Although they are called remakes, the amount of effort and resources they would take means that there is no difference between making a remake and a completely new game. Personally, I am more attracted to the idea of creating another original story or world or of building something new ”, he explained.
This means that it seems very difficult for Mistwalker to participate in the development of a possible remake or remaster of games like Blue Dragon or The Last Story, which he created for Microsoft and Nintendo, respectively.
And you, what do you think about it? Do you think some of these Mistwalker games should have remasters or remakes? Tell us in the comments.
