Red Dead Redemption 2 came into our lives in 2018 and has since marked millions of players with one of the most accomplished stories and worlds in the history of video games. Nature’s love letter, violence, and camaraderie made Rockstar’s latest one of the all-generation favorites for many gamers. The figure of Arthur Morgan, protagonist of the game played by Roger Clark and who, at first, was going to look very different from how it ended up being, is also partly to blame in that draft.
A former Rockstar concept artist named Daren Bader has updated his profile on ArtStation, one of the many ways artists have to display their portfolio, featuring a multitude of concept art created by himself for both environments and characters. The gallery, which we can no longer find in ArtStation due to the fact that the artist himself has deleted it, has been collected in rockstarintel.
This was the original appearance of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2
Of all the images, the one that stands out the most is one of the initial concepts that Rockstar had for Arthur Morgan with a less friendly design than the final one and that reminds us a lot of Micah Bell, another of the main faces of the game.
As you can see, the resemblance to Micah Bell is unsettling and of course we are left with the final design of Arthur, which has a friendlier face and that fits more with the nature of the character. Even so, it is curious to see how a face or design can change the overall perception of a character.
Who knows if we will see Arthur Morgan again in the future through a new prequel to Red Dead Redemption or even with an improved version for PS5 and Xbox Series X | S of Red Dead Redemption 2. In any case, good old Morgan will always have a place in our heart.
