With Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart soon making its debut on PlayStation 5, the guys from Insomniac Games reveal more details about their next, highly anticipated production. In particular, they told some background regarding the themes of the game and the genesis of the new character Rivet.
During an interview granted to Variety, some of the minds behind the development of the new chapter of the series confirmed that the idea of interdimensional travel has been taken into consideration since the beginning of the works, but that the inspiration to explore this topic has arrived. from a completely unexpected source: one of the most famous Christmas movies of all time, or it’s a wonderful life of 1946.
” How could it be an alternate dimension of Ratchet and Clank? And in particular, what would Ratchet’s life have been like if he hadn’t had Clank? “: These are some of the questions that creative director Marcus Smith asked himself at the beginning of development of the new episode. From here the team rethought the story of It’s a Wonderful Life protagonist George Bailey (played by James Stewart ), who in the film discovers what the life of his loved ones would have been like if he had never existed.
