The Pokemon Company announces that next year’s celebrations will feature new titles: will it be the long-awaited remakes?
Anniversary celebrations are very important to Pokemon. When the franchise turned ten years old, Nintendo celebrated with a wave of games, with the most important being Diamond and Pearl. On the other hand, when the brand was fifteen years old, The Pokemon Company gave us Black and White for the Nintendo DS. And of course, his twenties coincided with Sun and Moon, the jewels released on the 3DS. Now that a new anniversary period is approaching, the owners of the brand are already preparing everything for a year very full of content.
In a press release, the company that owns the brand stated “The Pokemon Company International invites fans around the world to stay tuned for more information on the very special 25-year anniversary celebration in 2021.” There’s a big, big discussion within the Pokemon fanbase as to what this anniversary will mean. Some believe that a new installment in the franchise could be announced, probably something like a sequel to Sword and Shield. At the same time, six years have passed since they released a remake. It could be a remake of Diamond and Pearl, which many fans have asked for.
In addition to this, some spin-offs could be launched. After the very successful remake of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, it would not be illogical for a remake of its sequel to be worked on: Explorers of Sky. However, this may only be announced with a 2022 release date.
Maybe Pokken gets a second part or maybe that curious MOBA that they announced a few months ago will be released. There is a possibility that 2021 will be a giant year for the Japanese brand. What would you like to see of this anniversary?
