Sony has already launched the long-awaited PlayStation 5, the next-generation console has arrived with great news and since its early launch it has been a success. Currently, getting a unit of the product is almost impossible, this due to its shortage is wide throughout the globe. Now then, the company has just announced that the launch of its new hardware is the best in the entire history of the company in terms of consoles.
This was announced through the official PlayStation Twitter, where they shared a few words about the launch of the console. In the tweet, they stressed the impact that the PS5 had, as well as that they are working on more consoles, which will be reaching the retail market before the end of the year.
PlayStation 5 is estimated to have sold between 2.1 and 2.5 million units combining its two release dates of November 12 and 19. According to the report, 75% of these consoles sold were the edition that includes the disc reader.
On November 12, the PS5 sold between 1.3 and 1.6 million units in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea. Of all these countries, only in the US more than 1.2M were sold, while the rest sold between 115,000 and 120,000 units.
As for the second launch day, which took place on November 19, the PlayStation 5 sold between 800,000 and 900,000 units in Europe and the rest of the world. However, it is reported that most of the sales came from the old continent.
These numbers are quite impressive and indicate how successful the first weeks of life of Sony’s new console are being. However, the company still has to overcome the serious stock problems that the PS5 has (like everything else) to meet demand.
