PlayStation 4 will have support at least until 2022 according to Sony

The new generation is just around the corner, this is why many users are afraid of what may happen to the current generation. As we know, the firm will be launching some more games for the console, but later they will focus on the new console. Now then, Sony has just assured that they will continue to support their current console until at least 2022.

This has been revealed by the president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Jim Ryan during an interview with the GamesIndustry medium. In the aforementioned interview, he revealed the future that holds for the highly acclaimed PlayStation 4, after the arrival of the new console. That is why the manager highlighted the importance of players who still do not plan to make the direct leap to the new generation, providing their full support.

“Obviously, our eyes and our horizons have lifted with regards to what’s possible with that PS4 community, based on what we’ve observed over the last six months,” Ryan says, referring to an increase in players as a result of COVID-19 lockdowns. “That can be quite powerful, because in 2021, 2022… that PS4 community that we’ve spoken about, they will be the vast majority of people on PlayStations during that time. It is crucial that we keep them engaged and happy. And the last six months have demonstrated that we could do that to an extent that we didn’t think possible when we were setting our minds pre-COVID.”
