Halo Infinite should already be with us, but its development has not progressed as expected. His presentation in July caused some discontent among the community, which eventually led to a series of changes that have become an indefinite delay, rather than a pitch with the release of Xbox Series X | S. With a flagship like the Master Chief in limbo, Phil Spencer has spoken out about the matter in a recent interview with GameSpot, making it clear that everything is still going on, but also admitting flaws in all of this.
Trust and mistakes, Phil Spencer’s perspective on Halo Infinite
The departure of the head of 343 Industries, the team behind the development of Halo Infinite, was recently announced. Something that Spencer even considers “healthy” for development, although he clarifies that, the fact that this march was made public recently does not mean that it materialized at that very moment, it was something that had already happened before, but whose announcement had been postponed. ” We took the feedback from the July release seriously, both because of the timing and what the public expected of the game,” adds the Xbox boss.
“It was a failure on our part, on my part, to open our July presentation with Halo Infinite and then a couple of weeks later to move the date. I don’t take the feelings and emotions of our fans and clients lightly. We set expectations at the time, stating that it was something they were going to have at launch, and then we had to change those expectations not long after. That is an error.”
Despite the changes in management, Spencer is very convinced that the current team is going to bring the Master Chief to a very successful conclusion. He claims to have a lot of confidence in Bonnie Ross, Joe Staten, Pierre Hintze and the whole team. “Currently, I think that, in the long run, change is something healthy because we want people who are really motivated by what they are working on,” he adds.
Be that as it may, Halo Infinite continues to fly over the calendar, waiting to settle a date in 2021. The new of the Chief wants to be not only a one-off game, but an odyssey that lasts years in the new generation of consoles, as confirmed by those responsible, and even plans to launch a free multiplayer for everyone. We just have to wait to see what 343i achieves with these changes and with their work.
