A rumor that has been circulating online for a few hours could put those who can’t wait to play Overwatch 2 in a bad mood . Apparently, in fact, the game could arrive in stores after 2022 .
According to the sources of the well-known leaker Metro, the work on the multiplayer shooter is progressing more slowly than expected, to the point that the project will hardly see the light next year.
I've heard from multiple people close to my original source with OW2 that the development is taking longer than expected. From what I can gather a release in 2022 does not seem likely anymore. I hope this is false and I'm proven wrong.

Active Overwatch players are currently on a steady decline. Among the reasons is the absence of new significant updates , given that the efforts of the developers are concentrated above all in the development of PvP and PvE content coming to the sequel.
If this information turns out to be true, it would therefore be a real cold shower for the Blizzard shooter community, given that for over a year it would have to be satisfied with current content, re-propositions of old events and little more.
On the other hand, the pandemic has put many development houses in difficulty, slowing down the work of many games. Additionally, the change of director after Jeff Kaplan left Blizzard and the recent media storm linked to cases of harassment and discrimination in Activision Blizzard studios may have made matters even worse.
In any case, we invite you to take this rumor with a grain of salt. While Metro has proven to be a reliable source in the past, it’s always best to wait for official information from Blizzard.
