Staying in a hospital when you are sick can be a bit depressing, especially since the environment is usually not very cheerful.
However, Nintendo and Starlight hope to make your stay a bit more enjoyable as they have announced that they will deploy Starlight Nintendo Switch Gaming stations in hospitals.
If you’re not familiar with it, Nintendo’s Starlight console launched in 2019, but now it looks like Nintendo will expand its availability to more hospitals in the United States.
It is not a new console in itself, but is based on the Nintendo Switch, with some slight modifications to help make it easier to navigate the hospital environment and go from room to room.
This is how Nintendo explains the usefulness of these consoles:
As our newest addition to Starlight Gaming, each station comes preloaded with over 25 games, from Super Mario Party to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Built specifically to meet strict infection safety protocols, the play stations can roll anywhere in the hospital and keep children entertained and distracted, which is especially important with many playrooms closed due to COVID-19.
Without a doubt, it is an excellent initiative that we would like to see in other countries besides the United States.
