With 2021 just started, the information machinery is already beginning to move. It seems that Nintendo is shaping a really powerful year in releases, especially after a 2020 reign by Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With so many anniversaries involved, there are plenty of reasons to release great games, including the occasional remake. But who exactly are going to return to the Switch catalog? It’s not entirely clear, but it looks like there will at least be a new Metroid in 2021.
Is a new Metroid coming for Switch this year?
While Metroid Prime 4 remains silent, although with strange hires in between, it seems that the franchise is going to have another open front. The Twitter user PH Brazil, known for his contacts with the industry and even for having been part of the ResetERA staff, has published a series of images with which he anticipates the possible releases of Nintendo in 2021.

It anticipates the expected Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, but also 3 names that did not enter the bets: Splatoon, Metroid and Fire Emblem. It seems that this year we will have many options to add to the catalog of the Nintendo hybrid, although the most curious is precisely the one starring Samus Aran. Following the release of Metroid: Samus Returns for the 3DS and the announcement of the Prime 4 development restart, the bounty hunter had disappeared from the map.
But it is possible that this year he will be back, perhaps with the HD trilogy that has been rumored for so long, or perhaps with an installment that advances the story where Fusion left off. We will see, hopefully, in the coming months.
