Nintendo bans political campaigning on Animal Crossing

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a commercial success, generating more than 20 million sales since its launch. Since its arrival, we have seen how it has been used to raise various voices, from PETA to activists, and has even been used for political campaigns. This is why Nintendo has just announced that the latter is completely prohibited within the game.

As we know, a few weeks ago the new president of the United States, Joe Biden, introduced his own island in the game. The island focused on boosting the applicant’s candidacy ended up being a great success. This is why Nintendo has decided to take action on the matter, this is why it has issued a statement, in which they prohibit the use of policy within the game.

“Refrain from using the Game in an inappropriate way or creating content within the Game that could be considered vulgar, discriminatory or offensive. Also refrain from introducing politics into the Game. Do not use the Game as a marketing platform that directs people to activities or campaigns outside of the game (including directing people to a sales page, distributing coupons, sweepstakes, giveaways, requiring consumers to follow accounts social networking services, collect customer information, or other inviting activities), ”said the company.
