Last year, there were rumors about a new Nintendo Switch model coming out sometime in 2021.
The original report was lacking in detail, saying only that Nintendo “has considered including more computing power and 4K high definition graphics.”
Today Bloomberg provides more specific details, such as that this new model will have an OLED screen manufactured by Samsung, which will have a size of 7 ″ (current Switch models are 6.2 ″ and 5.5 ″ for the normal variant and Lite respectively) and will have a resolution of 720p.
Also, and perhaps the most interesting, it will display 4K image when connected to a compatible TV, which will mean a big change in resolution when switching between docked and laptop mode.
The Bloomberg report says production of the new displays will begin in June, and the “displays are scheduled to ship to assemblers around July,” meaning this new model would be ready “in time for Christmas.”
