The Yakuza franchise has been improving its reputation, especially in the West, a region where many players have been encouraged to try their games, despite the lack of translation in our language (Judgment and Like a Dragon, they do have subtitles). And now, after the launch of Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PS4, PC and Xbox Series X | S, powerful rumors emerge of a spin-off of the saga that would have a new protagonist.
Possible new game with an unexpected protagonist
It has been an anonymous user altchar which said it has information about a new game in the Yakuza franchise. Although it is an anonymous source without credibility due to past leaks, ** it highlights that this user has accompanied his statements with an image that shows the supposed video game together with a debug menu ** (the one used by the developers), so in case of being false it would be a very successful ‘fake’.
As the protagonist of this rumored spin-off would be: Ryugi Goda, one of the antagonists of the saga whose only appearance dates back to Yakuza 2 and its respective remake in Kiwami 2. In addition, as leaked it would return to the gameplay of previous installments to Like a Dragon and would base his story on Yakuza Online, a gacha that did not come out of Japan. The game would link some locations from Yakuza 5 and Yakuza 6.
At the moment, all this is not official. Neither Sega nor the Ryu Ga Gotoku studio have commented on the matter, but there is evidence that the creator of Yakuza confirms that there is a new game in development. Is it this? We will be with our eyes wide open to any news.
