The Two Giants: Both God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn Have Taken Nearly $ 1 Billion Together
After a few lazy years, the second half of the PlayStation 4’s life featured exclusives of true quality. The days of Knack and The Order 1886 are over to enter a much more enjoyable era. First, in February 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn, an action-adventure sandbox starring the redhead Aloy, was released. Later, in 2018, God of War arrived, the sequel to the franchise that fans had waited for eight years. Now, it has been revealed how much money both titles generated and both amounts are impressive.
This information comes from Timur222 , a Twitter account that shared a LinkedIn photo. LI’s account is owned by TJ Consunji, who worked as Group Marketing Manager – Exclusive Games at PlayStation for four years. In the case of God of War, it generated $ 500 million and sold 10 million units digitally (with 40% of its units sold being digital). Selling half a billion dollars is a feat even if it is one of the largest franchises on PlayStation. It’s a testament to the power of this brand, even though it hadn’t released a new game in seven years.
On the other hand, Horizon Zero Dawn generated $ 400 million and sold 8 million units globally (35% of its units being digital). Being a new property, these figures are really striking and show that Guerrilla Games managed to exceed expectations. After these results, it will be difficult for Aloy not to be a PlayStation mascot in the short to medium term. Guerrilla has created a franchise with a lot, a lot of potential.
Have you been able to play either of the two? Which one did you find the most entertaining?
