Gearbox , a developer known above all for having created the popular Borderlands saga, is working on a new franchise that will be “introduced” this fiscal year, or by the beginning of April 2022 . What could it be?
For the moment no other information has been shared. These come directly from the financial report of Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of companies such as 2K Games and Rockstar Games. The only thing we know is that this new project is one of the company’s “key products”: is it possible that this is a new IP ready to rival the success of Borderlands?
Also interesting is the fact that the game is published by 2K Games . In fact, we recall that Gearbox was purchased in February 2021 by Embracer (parent company of THQ Nordic, Koch Media / Deep Silver and many development studios) for 1.3 billion dollars. 2K Games, however, had stated that the Borderlands IP was still owned by it and that “any other project currently in development” would remain in the never of 2K. Probably, this new IP is what the company was referring to.
