Conrad B. Hart is a name that should speak to 30-something. Main character of the Flashback adventure , the title strongly marked the video game landscape since its release in 1992. This fantastic adventure, developed by Delphine Software, was one of the first games to use pre-rendered 3D images and was supposed to be the first game of its kind on consoles, since it was a launch title for the Sega CD. Building on his success, he was at the origin of a small revolution in the gaming industry.
So what was our surprise when the French studio and publisher Microïds went through its Twitter account to announce the release of a second episode for 2022. Stéphane Longeard, president of the company, commented on the announcement:
We are very excited to offer fans a sequel to this masterpiece in French video game history, and at Microids we strive to complete projects that showcase the work of talented people. Paul Cuisset is an internationally renowned French artist. We are proud to work hand in hand with him and his team on this project.
For the time being, no additional information has been communicated. Nevertheless, Paul Cuisset split a few words to reveal some elements of context.
Developing a sequel to Flashback is an idea that I have had for a very long time. I can’t wait for players to experience the new adventures of Conrad B. Hart, a character created almost 30 years ago. With Microids, we really intend to keep fans of the original title happy while attracting gamers who have a soft spot for futuristic games.
Words that raise questions about Fade to Black, a title released on PlayStation, which was already the sequel to the original title. We will have to wait to learn more to have the end of this story.
