Square Enix proved that the approach to the Final Fantasy VII remake worked for them and was well received by critics and fans alike. It was even considered by many as one of the best games of the generation. Since its announcement, fans of the original installment on PC and even other consoles have been patiently waiting for news about a possible port and it seems they could get some very good news soon.
We recently informed you that highly reputable insider Navtra commented on ResetEra that Square Enix plans to announce Final Fantasy VII Remake for PlayStation 5. Well, this gave a lot to talk about and a dubious fan questioned KatharsisT, another member recognized for his leaks, how much more he knew about the subject.
What’s interesting is that the insider mentioned that all he knows is that Square Enix plans to announce the PlayStation 5 edition alongside the much-rumored PC edition. Details are not abundant, but KatharsisT anticipated that the announcement, as Navtra mentioned, will take place this year and agreed that “it will not take long” for the PlayStation 5 edition to arrive.
SQUARE ENIX HAS BEEN AMBIGUOUS ABOUT THE EXCLUSIVITY OF FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE
This frankly does not take much by surprise, because we remind you that in the first trailer of the game, in the reveal at the distant E3 2015, it is read that Final Fantasy VII Remake could be played first on PlayStation 4. However, there has been uncertainty in later years and even recent months due to Square Enix not saying much about it.
With “Play first on PlayStation 4” it is understood that the game would reach another system, but it is not known which one, if it will only arrive on PlayStation and PC consoles or also on Xbox systems. This kind of uncertainty is common in new installments of the series, because remember that when Final Fantasy XVI was revealed it was made clear that it would be exclusive to consoles, but it was not clear if it would one day reach PC.
Later, when the cover art for Final Fantasy VII Remake was revealed, it was confirmed that its exclusivity would end on March 3, 2021, which coincides with rumors that Square Enix will soon reveal the PC edition. Another important detail is that the informants mention only the PC version and not the Xbox One or Xbox Series X | S even though it was never taken as a PlayStation exclusive title on consoles.
Anyway, we just have to wait to know if the premiere of Final Fantasy VII Remake on PC is coming, the good news is that we will not have to do it for long, since, according to rumors, this announcement would take place in February. We will keep you informed.
What do you think of these details? Do you think Square Enix will release Final Fantasy VII Remake on PC? Tell us in the comments.
Final Fantasy VII Remake is currently only available on PlayStation 4 and can also be played on PlayStation 5 through backward compatibility.
