As official as it may be, no medium is free from human error. And Sony has been carrying a few of those behind its back in recent months: you probably remember that conference on PlayStation 5 games where it was hinted that the Demon’s Souls remake would come to PC after a while, a platform with which it will also Naoki Yoshida’s promising Final Fantasy XVI would be shared. Both headlines were quickly disproved, but gamers haven’t forgotten the possibility of seeing these adaptations in the future (especially, with more PS4-exclusive games on the way to PC).
Now that hope comes back mixed with doubts. The reason? PlayStation Brazil has shared on its YouTube channel a video that reviews some of the exclusive games of the new generation console, namely Deathloop, GhostWire: Tokyo, Godfall and Final Fantasy XVI, with an asterisk that explains their conditions. The first three already have a PC version announced, and in the case of Bethesda’s, there is also talk of an expiration of twelve months (we can see them on Xbox or Switch after that time).
In the case of FF16, you can read -as collect the most attentive users ResetEra- “Final Fantasy XVI will not be available on other platforms for a time after its launch in PS5″ without further specification. The same video shows material ” captured on PC ” according to the subtitles, which logically should translate into that FF16 will be exclusive to PS5 at launch and then arrive at PC. Considering that Square Enix has ended up bringing Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III to this platform, it seems like a logical move.
However, as we said above, bugs affect us all and PlayStation Brazil is no exception: last year, for example, they mentioned Gran Turismo 7 before it was officially revealed and had to backtrack as soon as the slip began to spread on the internet. If this error ends up repeating itself, to the joy of PC users, it is something that we will verify over time. Meanwhile, Sony will have to worry about nurturing the market with enough consoles over the next few months.
