At the heart of the news after the leak of an unprecedented trailer, Elden Ring should soon be shown through more official channels. In any case, this is what seems to be agreed upon by journalists like Jeff Grubb, Jason Schreier or even some Insiders. Among them, Omnipotent even shares new information that it is customary to take with a grain of salt.
Elden Ring returns to multiplayer
First of all, let us specify that Omnipotent has already distinguished itself in the past via information verified a posteriori. He notably announced the arrival of Sekiro as well as several details around the game before its official presentation. In 2019, he also revealed that the next From Software would be unveiled at E3 and that it would be a cross-platform game. In short, the man is often right on target when it comes to the Japanese studio, so we give him some credit.
It is therefore on Resetera that Omnipotent unveils some new elements about Elden Ring. According to him, the next From Soft will revive online features and offer PvP to players. Good news for Souls lovers since these elements were missing from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. In the same vein, the creation of character would be present and would offer a class system close to that of Dark Souls. However, while the affiliation to the studio’s flagship series will be obvious, differences should also be visible, starting with the gaming world.
A game brighter than Dark Souls
The insider indeed comments on the recent leak of an Elden Ring video. For him, if it is not an intentional leak on the part of Bandai Namco or From Soft, he nevertheless specifies that the images come from the publisher. This video was indeed for internal use only and Omnipotent even doubts the developers were aware of its existence. But the essential here is ultimately to be found in the rest of his remarks. Because for him, this short video reveals too little of the experience that Elden Ring will offer.
I guess it depends on your definition of spoiler, but it doesn’t really show much or even highlight some key features like the weather.
It’s a pretty colorful game, and that was their intention. Without saying that there is nothing dark, but having a more luminous, colorful and lively rendering is exactly what they want for the visual identity of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is currently in development for PC and consoles. From Software has not announced a release date for the time being and it will therefore be necessary to wait for a more complete presentation to verify the elements shared above.
