In recent months, the fate of Discord was in the balance, breaking new popularity records during the pandemic. Ultimately, the company’s management decided not to sell the website, although according to reports, Microsoft offered up to $ 10 billion.
The communicator could boast 140 million active users at the end of 2020, and their base will potentially increase significantly in some time. Sony has announced that Discord will go (finally!) To PlayStation. Unfortunately, we’ll wait a while for that:
Our goal is to bring the Discord and PlayStation experience on consoles and mobile devices closer together from early next year, enabling friends, groups and communities to spend time, have fun and communicate more easily while playing games together.
It’s hard not to applaud this decision, although the beginning of 2022 is, at least, a distant date.
Additionally, Sony announced that it had acquired a minority stake in Discord itself.
