Scheduled for this year, Bungie has confirmed the postponement of the future expansion “The Witch Queen” to early 2021. The studio will provide more details on this content during the summer. With the accompanying Lightfall chapter, this new expansion will be the penultimate of the saga around the first episode, with another yet unannounced chapter. Joe Blackburn , deputy director on the title, sheds a bit of light – hihi – on this report:
We also realized that we needed to add an additional unannounced chapter after Lightfall in order to complete our first Destiny Saga. With all of the above and depending on what’s going on in The Witch Queen, we wanted to make sure we gave ourselves enough time to build this journey the right way, starting with an outstanding first chapter in The Witch Queen. With Destiny now committed to being an ever-changing world, we want to make sure that we still take the time to upgrade the systemic foundations of Destiny 2 to support whatever we want to do in the future.
In addition, Blackburn specifies the importance given to the health of studio employees. 2021 will therefore be the year the studio tackles the game’s systemic design, namely rethinking its approach to keeping weapons and equipment relevant. It will also be about improving the PVP and working on cross-play. So many things that will take time before arriving on our machines. Until then, you can already enjoy the season of the Chosen and its lot of novelties.
