After the hangover of information from the PlayStation 5 event, today it is time to talk about the Demon’s Souls game, and it is that, officially, it is the first and only game where Sony, in its official blog, mentions that it integrates RayTracing technology.
While it may be suspected that other games include this technology, such as the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, in this game Sony highlights the possibility of traveling to different dimensions in real-time and without waiting for thanks to the speed of its SSD, while Demon’s Souls highlights the use of Ray Tracing to offer greater visual quality by integrating reflections and lighting in real-time, to which is added some “beautiful shadow effects”.
Additionally, it is also the only game where it is mentioned that ” players can choose between two graphics modes while playing: one focused on fidelity and another focused on frame rate “, that is, that this game will have two graphic settings, one of them with a higher visual quality, which could imply activating RayTracing and higher resolution textures, and another one that will reduce the visual quality in exchange for a greater number of frames on the screen, which translates into sacrificing quality for fluidity. Of course, FPS is not discussed, so we do not know if the quality mode is @ 30 FPS and the fluidity mode is @ 60 FPS, and we would not be surprised knowing that RayTracing is very demanding in terms of resources.
It will be necessary to wait for Japan Studio or Bluepoint Games to reveal more information over the weeks, or for the title to be released to have a detailed analysis of the visual quality and fluidity of both graphic adjustments.
