Probably, the news of the day has been the confirmation of a new delay in the launch date of Cyberpunk 2077. The long-awaited adventure developed by CD Projekt will finally arrive, unless it is postponed again, on December 10; 21 days later than expected. A decision that will have repercussions for one of the most anticipated games of recent years.
Geoff Keighley, the journalist and the main person in charge of the gala The Game Awards has not wasted time publishing a tweet in which he stated that “as happened a few years ago with Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Cyberpunk 2077 will be eligible for the awards of the next year”.
As in this type of galas in all areas, there is a deadline for the games to be able to apply for the different prizes that are distributed, both for Game of the Year and in categories by gender or platform. Cyberpunk 2077 will be released just two days before the 2020 edition of The Game Awards is held, so the jury will not be able to evaluate it in any of its categories, and from CD Projekt they will have to wait for next year to be eligible for the awards.
If everything continues as planned this time, and although it is not eligible for GOTY, which may also have a commercial impact for the study, Cyberpunk 2077 will hit stores on December 10.
