The news, which comes from ModernWarzone, states that the current title for the 2021 Call of Duty is ‘WWII Vanguard.’
ModernWarzone says the name might be a code name, but it also could be the final release name. This is, of course, just a rumor for now. A name has not been confirmed and is subject to change.
The new title, set to release in Q4 2021, will mark Sledgehammer Games’ first new title since 2017. Their last title was Call of Duty: WWII.
While Activision has not officially confirmed SHG as the developer, multiple rumors have indicated and hinted as such.
Rumors suggest that the 2021 game will take place during the 1950s, expanding beyond what the 2017 game covered in its focus on the European front of the war.
Activision has not officially announced any details on the 2021 Call of Duty game. The company has only confirmed that there will in fact be a new Call of Duty title later this year.
The new title is expected to be integrated with the free to play Call of Duty: Warzone title with it’s launch too, as the company continues to push for Warzone’s expansion.
When Activision plans to reveal the 2021 game remains to be seen. With the success of Warzone and Cold War, the company could hold on revealing it till later in the year, similar to Cold War’s reveal in August 2020.
