Activision and Infinity Ward continue the preventive campaign ahead of the start of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer Season 5 and, more importantly, the battle royale mode, Warzone. Last week we reported on the teaser that a streamer released, and where a train appeared. Well, a few days ago, the professional player Tyler Polchow received a USB shaped like a chess tower, inside which was another teaser, this one showing the interior of the Verdansk arena.
The YouTube channel JackFrags, which specializes in first-person shooter games, also received a letter and a USB stick, inside which came another video, this one of a burning corridor that perhaps also corresponds to the Verdansk stadium. The letter of introduction was signed by a certain Marcus Ortega from the Shadow Company faction, who appears in the lore of Modern Warfare 2. Recall that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a plot reinterpretation of the original 2007 saga.
The Verdansk stadium has been a subject of curiosity since Warzone debuted, as it occupies a colossal space on the map, but its interior is inaccessible to players, with which there has always been the suspicion that it will play a more complex role with the passage of the weather.
The sophistication in the distribution of these chess pieces and cards gives the videos an official character and suggests that Verdansk, the map of Warzone, will undergo major changes at least during Season 5. It is the first time that Activision has launched a similar campaign. in preparation for a change of season.
Season 5 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Call of Duty Warzone starts on August 5 and, regardless of what’s new, it will surely involve the download of a patch of considerable size. Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for the Call of Duty 2020 announcement that is already several months late. Concerning Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered will be part of the August PlayStation Plus rewards.
