The Call of Duty saga continues in full swing weeks after the arrival of COD Black Ops Cold War.
The Call of Duty saga has been, for years, one of the most lucrative in the sector for Activision. The queues that form in stores every time a new delivery comes out are not obtained by too many licenses, something that speaks positively of the interest it arouses. So it is especially commendable that it continues to break records, and that is what Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has done, which has become the title of the series that has sold the most during its first year.
Two thirds of its sales come from the digital market
The game was launched on October 25, 2019, and, in its first year, it has sold more than any other game in the Call of Duty license, one of the most popular in the industry. The information comes from Activision itself at its recent investor meeting. Although they have not given specific data, they assure that it has also been a sales success and also that most of the copies sold come from the digital market. They also ensure that the success of Warzone, the free-to-play game, has encouraged players to look further into the saga of the first-person shooter.
As stated by Daniel Alegre , president and CFO of Activision: “Sales of COD Modern Warfare have been the highest in the history of Call of Duty during its first year, and two-thirds of the total has been sold digitally .” Some data that speaks for itself of a brand that, despite offering annual deliveries, something that has penalized many franchises, continues to have and even exceeds the success of the first day.
We’ll see if the records are overcome with Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, the new iteration will be available from next November 19 and also reach PS5 Series X and Xbox
