Teruyuki Toriyama announces his departure from SIE Japan Studio, PlayStation’s in-house development team in his homeland of Japan. For those who do not know the name of this developer, it goes without saying that it is the producer of games like Soul Sacrifice, Demon’s Souls Remake and what many consider one of the jewels of this generation: Bloodborne.
Through Twitter, he thanked fans for their support during his time at Sony and said he plans to “take on the challenge of creating new game IPs in my new company”.
I will be leaving SIE WWS JAPAN Studio at the end of Dec. To all the users who have supported JAPAN Studio so far, thank you so much! I will continue to take on the challenge of creating new game IPs in my new company, and I ask for your continued support. #JAPANStudio

Toriyama will therefore continue to work in the field of video games, probably, continuing his role as producer within another company, of which precise information is not yet available. It is a’another defection of great importance within Japan Studio, Sony’s in-house team that was once a backbone of PlayStation and has now been somewhat drained of talent.
We remember in fact, only at the beginning of December, the announcement that informed us that Keiichiro Toyama, father of Silent Hill, Gravity Rush and Siren and another key member of Japan Studio, left Sony to found the new Bokeh Game Studio team, along with other team members.
All this would seem to fall within that vision of a Sony less interested in Japan than in previous years that was highlighted in a famous Bloomberg article, officially denied by Sony but which seems to find confirmation in several factual elements including the dismemberment of Sony Japan Studio , but of course these are just guesses for the moment.
