Some of you might not believe me because today is April Fools, but I didn’t come here to fool anyone. Let’s begin.
Until yesterday, I was working at 3arc as a junior game designer until I got fired for a certain incident. I’m gonna switch industries so before I leave I might as well drop what I know about CoD 2023.
So from what I’ve heard from others in the office, the studio has split itself into three teams (one for BOCW support, another for development on the next title and the last one for BO2 remastered). The support team is right now working on a couple of remasters apart from the scheduled original maps. That’s why right now we haven’t seen any new maps apart from Miami Strike.
As for the dev team working on CoD 2023, they’re making a Black Ops-adjacent original title set after BO2 and before BO4. From what I’ve heard its story will follow a UN peacekeeper unit but some buddies at Media and Comms told me that the story will be following another black ops team, so for now, story details are fuzzy, to say the least, but the setting is 100% confirmed to be near future.
Last but not least, Black Ops 2 Remastered is coming alongside CoD 2023 and it’s being worked on by a joint 3arc/Raven team in the background. From what I’ve heard it’ll be a 1-to-1 remaster of the original game. As for now, it’s being geared for a next-gen only release, but that’s likely going to change in a year or so.
