It looks just like that Asobo Studio, the team responsible for the development of A Plague Tale Innocence and Microsoft Flight Simulator, has no intention of focusing solely on post-launch support for the Microsoft exclusive and is currently working on something new.
This information emerged, as happens more and more often, thanks to a job advertisement published on the web by the software house and through which the team is looking for two different senior animators. These professionals will have to work on the development of one AA or AAA production and it will be essential to have an excellent knowledge of anatomy and great experience in animation techniques. From the announcement it is therefore clear that Asobo Studio does not yet have clear ideas about the nature of the project, but from the few details included in the job announcement it would seem to be a title with a strong narrative component, given the focus on animations.
While it’s unknown what this new project could be, a sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence isn’t out of the question. The listing outright states that it’s for “The team behind ‘A Plague Tale: Innocence‘”, though this could apply to the studio in general. The title has sold over one million copies as of July 1st 2020 and was deemed a commercial success by publisher Focus Home Interactive before that.
In 2019, A Plague Tale: Innocence was rumored to be receiving a sequel in 2022. Focus Home and Asobo confirmed that they were working on a new game together but didn’t offer any more details. We’ll have to wait for more updates in the meantime. A Plague Tale: Innocence is currently available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
